COL 1:16 For by him (God) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

If you read the above scripture and thought about it, you should have come to the conclusion that God instituted the governments.

So what happened? Why are authorities the way they are?

Why is there corruption in our government?

Lets find out.

Since the beginning of time people have lived in rebellion against God. They did there own thing and lived the way they wanted to live, which still holds true today.

But why is everything the way it is? What does this have to do with the government?

If people live the way they want to rather then the way God wants them to, you always end up with people that make right wrong and wrong right. People become corrupt and this corruption finds its way into our government.

So how do we keep this from happening, or at least slow it down?

Lets see what the Bible says:

MT 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

In other words: We are supposed to influence the world including the government and if we don't, we are like salt that doesn't work. Which would means we are useless.

We have to be salt. We can't hide in our homes and churches like so many do. You are salt by having the courage to let people know who you are. People watch how and who we are and it influences them. You are salt by letting people know what your convictions are. You are salt by speaking out. These are just some examples.

There are some that would not do this. There are people that worry about what others may say about them. They are afraid they may not be liked or popular.

The Bible teaches we need to let people know who we are.

It starts at the beginning:

RO 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

This is the first step, this is how we are saved, but it should not stop there.

It goes on to say:

MT 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

The word "acknowledge" here is used as "confess". Jesus says: "If you are not willing to say I am a Christian why should I acknowledge you before my father?"

Where am I going with this? What does this have to do with our government?

Lets read the next scripture:

RO 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Like we side before, the government is established by God. But we also know a lot of the government is messed up. Why?

We don't do our part. Many are not the salt they need to be. Many "hide out" and don't get involved.

How do we do our part? Lets be real salt.

We are the body of Christ. The hands, the feet, the eyes, the conscience, etc.

That means we have to take care of things as he directs us. God does not vote, he uses us to vote. He does not miraculously put someone in power. We are not going to wake up and find a new government that happened by itself. But we can help God do miracles by voting and helping put people in office that he approves off.
