A psalm of David.
PS 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
God is my guide, he gives me direction. He makes sure I have all I need.
PS 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
Because of the way he takes care of us so we can relax. You might say I can kick back.
Another example:
ISA 49:10 They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.
PS 23:3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
If we go astray, he will restore our soul. If we listen, he will guide us. In real life and our spiritual life. He does this not just for our sake, but also for his sake. He doesn't want us to make him look bad.
PS 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
God is always there. Because of all this, we don't have to be afraid. Knowing he will fight for us brings us comfort. He will protect us.
PS 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Even with everything going crazy around us, he will take care of us. Anointing was the customary treatment of an honored guest at a banquet. That's how God sees us: He can do this because of what Jesus did for us.
PS 23:6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Another example:
RO 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
If I trust in this and believe it, goodness and love will follow me and then I get to live forever with God. The icing on the cake.
That doesn't mean there won't be problems, but we can rise above them. If we do that we will have an inner peace that you will not have otherwise.
Conclusion:
Are you in the state of mind this Psalm talks about? Do you know Jesus?
It takes time with God to get into that mind set. Change your life start spending more time with God.
